Chugiak-Eagle River Senior Center, overseen by Chugiak Senior Citizens, Inc., a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization established in 1975, caters to the needs of seniors aged 55 and above, as well as disabled adults residing in the broader Chugiak, Eagle River, and Eklutna regions.
Our goal is to empower individuals to maintain their independence and continue enjoying the comforts of their community. Imagine a place where you can select from 42 independent living apartments, 20 affordable senior housing units, and 20 well-equipped assisted living accommodations.
Delight in our wholesome meal program, open not just to residents but to all, ensuring no one misses out on good nutrition. Participate in our Meals-On-Wheels Program, Need a lift? Our transportation department is at your service, connecting you to the heart of Chugiak, Eagle River, Anchorage, and the Mat-Su Valley. Elevate your well-being with our wellness and exercise program, curated to invigorate both body and mind. March News and Updates from CERSC Spring is just around the corner, bringing longer days, warmer weather, and fresh opportunities to stay active and engaged. Let’s shake off the winter chill, and embrace the renewal, joy and fresh opportunities spring offers. We can’t wait to share all the exciting things happening this month! From fun social events to helpful resources – let’s make March a fantastic one together! Here are a few upcoming events to look forward to: Senior Prom – March 8 th @ 4:00PM-7:00PM You will not want to miss this groovy party! This free event is open to the public, so come dressed in your favorite 1950s attire and prepare to party! We will have light foods, drinks, music, and a lot of fun! Bingo Extravaganza – March 10 th & March 18 th @ 1:30PM Get ready for a fantastic afternoon of fun and games at either of our FREE Bingo event on March 10th hosted by the Eagle River Sleeping Lady Mountain Lions Club or by the Eagle River VFW on March 18th! Come out and enjoy great company, exciting prizes, and plenty of laughter. Whether you’re a bingo pro or a first-timer, everyone is welcome! Don’t miss out on the fun—mark your calendars and bring a friend! AK Veterans Museum Trip This event is rescheduled from February. The Alaska Veterans Museum honors the sacrifices of servicemen and servicewomen, with exhibits showcasing Alaska's rich military history through artifacts, oral histories, and stories. Zumba Gold Class Enjoy a fun low intensity workout striving to improve balance, strength, flexibility, and heart health, while dancing to International Music. Instructed by Elly Frey and Judith Lindenfelser. No experience needed, just bring a water bottle and workout shoes AARP Tax Services – Wednesdays & Fridays from February 1 st – April 12 th from 10:00AM – 3:00PM From February 1st-April 12th, AARP Tax Services is providing free tax help here in the Chugiak Senior Center every Wednesday and Saturday! As we welcome 2025, we’re excited to embark on another year of community, friendship and meaningful activities at Chugiak-Eagle River Senior Center. This year, we’re planning even more engaging programs, special events, and opportunities for you to stay active, inspired, and connected. Whether it’s a new class, a volunteer opportunity, or simply stopping by for a coffee and conversation, there’s something here for everyone! Meals on Wheels Christmas Present Program - THANK YOU This event was a huge success thanks to everyone who donated their time and finances into helping bring holiday cheer to those who need it the most in our community. It's a time for connection, celebration, and creating heartwarming memories together. We are excited to share the latest edition of the Senior Edition newsletter announcements for the Chugiak-Eagle River Senior Center. Annual Membership Meeting, Board Election Dinner & Dessert Auction - THANK YOU A big congratulations to the new elected members of the board. Thank you to all who participated in baking delicious deserts for us to enjoy and a thank you to all who gave financially towards the auction! We raised $1,300 for the Meals on Wheels Christmas Present Program which is making a tangible difference in the lives of our community members this holiday season. Meals on Wheels Christmas Present Program This year, we are preparing packages for 90 seniors, and we need your help to make this campaign a success. Whether through financial contributions, donations of goods, or your time, every effort goes a long way in bringing holiday cheer to those who need it most. You can contribute by visiting www.chugiakseniors.com, clicking the Donate button, and mentioning "Meals on Wheels Christmas Present Program" in the donor note. Together, we can brighten the season for our seniors and show the true spirit of giving. Annual CERSC Membership - Time to Renew! As we approach the new year, it’s also time to renew your CERSC membership! All annual memberships will expire on December 31st, so don’t forget to renew to continue enjoying the many benefits of being part of our vibrant community. Halloween Bazaar Success – Thank You! First, a massive thank you to everyone who made our Halloween Bazaar a fantastic success! Your donations, time, and support helped create a festive atmosphere that brought smiles, laughter, and a lot of spooky fun to our senior community. The event would not have been possible without the support and generosity of our community, and we are truly grateful for your involvement. From everyone here at CERSC, thank you for making the Halloween Bazaar a standout event!
